Another great way to look for housing is by using University or College web sites; you may often find links to off-campus student living from the home page. You can find good recommendations on roommates, rent, and neighborhoods by scanning these links. If you are looking for temporary leases, try using corporate housing or go directly to the company you will be working for and see what they recommend. Be forewarned; corporate housing is expensive but convenient. Consider splitting the rent for a one-bedroom apartment.
