Minimum Requirements

All Students

You must have an overall UT GPA of at least 2.25 and a Communication GPA of at least 2.0 in order to be considered for transfer into the College.

In addition, you must also meet the requirements for the major to which you are applying.

Advertising

To be eligible to apply for transfer into the Advertising major you must either be currently enrolled in or have completed ADV 318J with a grade of B or better. (Students who take ADV 318J in Fall 2009 or Spring 2010 and earn a B- will be eligible to apply for transfer.) If you are currently enrolled in the course, your grade will be checked at the end of the semester.

Students may enroll in Advertising 318J no more than twice.

Communication Studies

Priority is given to applicants who have already successfully completed some CMS coursework.

Communication Sciences & Disorders

Priority is given to applicants who have already successfully completed some CSD coursework.

Journalism

Students are advised to be currently enrolled in (or have completed) J310 before applying; however, this is NOT required to apply to transfer into Journalism.  

Public Relations

To be eligible to apply for transfer into the Public Relations major you must either be currently enrolled in or have completed ADV 318J with a grade of B or better. (Students who take ADV 318J in Fall 2009 or Spring 2010 and earn a B- will be eligible to apply for transfer.) If you are currently enrolled in the course, your grade will be checked at the end of the semester.

Radio-Television-Film

Priority is given to applicants who have successfully completed some RTF coursework, in particular, RTF 305.

Please be aware that meeting these minimum qualifications does not guarantee admission into the College of Communication.
