Transfer Students
Admissions
Students from outside The University of Texas at Austin should apply as an external transfer student. This process is handled by the University’s Office of Admissions.
Students currently enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin should follow the internal transfer application process.

Degrees Offered
The College of Communication offers six degrees:
- Bachelor of Science in Advertising
- Bachelor of Science in Public Relations
- Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies
- Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders
- Bachelor of Journalism
- Bachelor of Science in Radio-TV-Film
Scholarships
Scholarships awarded by the College of Communication are available for continuing UT students.

Placement test information
Instructional Assessment and Evaluation conducts placement exams and the Grammar, Spelling, and Punctuation (GSP) and the Word Processing (WP) tests. All current Public Relations and Journalism majors must make appropriate scores on these before they are allowed to take J 315 News Media Writing and Editing. This course is usually taken in their sophomore year.
Transfer Equivalencies of coursework taken
The Automated Transfer Equivalency (ATE) system provides UT Austin transfer credit evaluations for courses commonly transferred from Texas colleges and universities.
Orientation
Students new to the University should review the New Student Orientation Program.
Current UT students who are accepted to the College of Communication via Internal Transfer are required to attend Internal Transfer Orientation.
