Invitation to submit proposals for 2011 Study Abroad Programs
Faculty in the College of Communication are invited to submit proposals for innovative courses to be taught abroad under the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost Initiative in International Studies for 2011. The Initiative supports funding for colleges and their faculties to offer courses through Maymester Abroad and Summer Session Abroad Programs in a range of locations around the world.
NEW with this 2011 application cycle: Beginning with programs approved for 2011, the approval process will now cover a three-year period (2011, 2012, and 2013). Proposals for programs to be offered on alternating years (2011 and 2013) will also be accepted.
Faculty who will be seeking UT Study Abroad Office administrative support, and who are interested in offering a program for 2011 and subsequent years are invited to visit the “Guidelines for Summer and Maymester Proposals” section of the Study Abroad Office web site, where they can also download the application.
Instructions:
- Complete the forms and attach any required or supplemental materials.
- Obtain the signature of the Department Chair.
- Submit the proposal packet to the Study Abroad Office (WOH 2nd floor, A7000) and e-mail a copy to studyabroadoffice@austin.utexas.edu by the deadline of January 25, 2010. This deadline applies to both Maymester and Summer Program Proposals.
An International Programs Committee will review the proposals and forward them to the Vice Provost’s Office for final approval. Proposal selections will be communicated to faculty, department chairs, and Deans in late spring, 2010.
Please consider seeking input from Study Abroad Office staff prior to submitting a proposal to the Dean’s Office, as the short time frame does not allow for proposal revisions once they have been submitted. Copies of past College of Communication proposals are available by request (please contact Kat Yerger in the Dean’s Office to request them).
